The RUSTY WHEELS Autumn Winter 2022 collection is a womenswear collection that values strong dramatic tailoring in high quality fabrics. Having moved from Delhi in India to a life in Dublin six years ago, I love working with locally sourced , vernacular fabrics such as woven and knitted wools. My inspiration for this collection came from a trip to the National Maritime Museum where the rusted and tarnished antique boat propellors, anchors and submarine engines informed the large curvy silhouettes and told the stories of bygone courage and sacrifices at sea. My colour palette of rolled gold, oily green and dark brown reflects the old ship`s painted engines eroded by decades of waves and brine.  This dark moody palette is accentuated with oxidized silver hardware closures and chunky zippers to give a contemporary edge. The hand-knitting techniques were taught to me online via video calls with my mother from Delhi to Dublin, and it is important to me to incorporate my Indian heritage and family`s craftmanship  into my Irish-influenced designs. This daywear collection can be worn to work or events and is designed for a customer whose design ethos is sustainability without forfeiting beautiful garments.
